This thread was created for FAQ and questions for 20.21W firmware upgrading.
FAQ 1: Motor tool returned “Invalid SN number, please contact WarpAstron Support”
Cause 1:
Usually caused by Service Mount Firmware not flashed to mount first. Especially error message shown without SN displayed.
Solution:
- To use the motor tool, please flash Service Firmware to mount via ESP Flash tool.
- Service Mount Firmware in folder 02 and used ESP Flash Tool for flashing.
- Detail can be seen at time 0:24 of video guide on Youtube.
Cause 2:
Hardware of the mount not support this firmware. The SN will be displayed in tool with Red background color.

Please contact WarpAstron Support by submitting a ticket.

FAQ 2: Motors showing “offline” after “Check Status” clicked.
This issue could be caused by several causes. Not look into this issue if Service Mount Firmware not installed.
Cause 1: Pipeline not established before starting a flashing
- If you can see motor “Online” at first time, while this issue happened later.
- If you pressed “Start” button in Flashing tab.
Solution:
- Open Motor Flashing Tool
- Connect to mount and click button “Read SN”, waiting for “Idle” showing at left bottom changed to “Direct”, then click “Check Motors”
- One or both motors showing “Offline”
- Go to the Tab - Pipeline
- Select motor to 01(RA), and then click button “Start” after Bridge label. It will show “Waiting”.
- You have 30 seconds for press home button on mount, press only once with “Waiting” changed to “Active”, and also status of RA motor will be showing “Manual”.
- Go to the Tab- Flashing
- Select motor 01 and then select motor firmware in folder 04 you download. then click “Start” for uploading.
- If progress showing green and in progress, waiting for it completed.
- Redo for another motor with repeating steps 5-8, just changed the motor from “01” to “02” for DEC axis.
Cause 2: Hardware configuring required.
You mount may require to open the front panel for setting with our remote support.
Solution
Submitting a ticket to our support to schedule a time for remote support.
Our remote support will check the mount by guiding you following some steps.
Allen wrench M1~M1.5 will be required for the setting.
Please install Rustdesk RDP software before schedule meeting.
Cause 3: Mount not support this firmware
Solution:
- Contact WarpAstron by submitting a ticket with your SN number, for further confirmation.
FAQ 3: Motor slewing speed too fast/“crazy” after 20.21W flashed
Cause:
Some mounts may failed to update info required after flashing with old 20.21W firmware released before Oct 10th.
- This issue will only be able to happen on mount with motor firmware upgrade required.
- No impact to Scope A units and cases already solved by WarpAstron Remote Support
Solution:
- Download latest mount firmware 20.21W_1011 from our Google Drive shared.
- Flash it to mount by ESP Flash Tool.
- Motors flashing not required if you already updated them to version 236.
