Does the Wd 17 have a limited ALT setting? When setting the mount to Alt-Az mode, the maximum I can achieve by turning the screw is 25 to 60 degrees, as if the screw were too short. The technical specifications say 0-90. Why is that?

Hi,
Please refer to the quick guide sent with the mount in the box. You need to do an alt range adjustment firstly.
Mount has 3 ranges 0-30,30-60 and 60-90degrees, please loosen the range adjustment bolt and then adjust it, fasten the bolt again after adjustment finished.
As mount will point to North horizon as default home position in alt-az mode.
Option1:
For mount switch to Alt-Az mode, you need also to loosen the 4 M6 bolts on saddle, rotate saddle for 90degrees then fasten the bolts again. scope will be pointed to North horizon.
Option2: manually reset the home position
You can manually slew the saddle 90degrees from current home position, and then reset home position as current in hand controller menu->align->reset home.
After you change the saddle position for option 1 or 2, you can follow the quick guide, to set software alt-az mode in hand controller.
