How important is and how to balance the mount?

The WD-20 User Manual Notice on Page 20 states that: The center of gravity of the telescope should be aligned as closely as possible with the center position of the dovetail plate or the distance between them should be minimized. So, the answer as I see it is YES, the telescope should be balanced on the mount. You can estimate the longitudinal center af gravity of the scope by placing it on a flat table beneath a round dowel placed perpendicular to the OTA, like a round pencil, and rolling it to find the balance point.
Hi and thank you.
I did this meanwhile and it works so far.
But now I have issues with date and time zone. For now I set the absolute time with no time zone or DST.
But it seems to be strange with pos or neg time zones.
Do you have issues with park and unpark?
From time to time it works or not via Ekos.
Thanks again
Gunter
Hi,
The positive and negative in mount timezone settings just be opposite to actual.
For example, if you are living in UTC +8:00 area like Shanghai, China. The settings in mount should be “UTC offset -” = “Yes”.
Cause default timezone is negative, if you select UTC offset - = yes, it will added a negative in front of it, then became actual UTC +8
